We had a smaller birthday bash for Aiden this year than last years. We decided to invite pretty much only immediate family and just a couple of Aiden's buddies. It was nice. The theme of the party was firetrucks of course, since that's the Roy Boy's main obsession right now. He had such a blast and is still talking about it.
After nap time on his birthday we were lucky enough to have a very special fire house visit at station 49. Fireman Dan was amazing and showed us every nook and cranny of the fire engines. While we were examining the firetruck one of the other firemen said "why don't you go for a ride?" I thought he was kidding...who gets to actually ride in a real live firetruck?!? Then he said "no, really...go for a ride" So Aiden and I hopped in the front seat next to Dan and Andrew sat in the back seat and we went for a ride! We even had the lights and siren on for a bit too. Then when we got back Aiden and Andrew got to spray the fire hose too. Super fun! It was the best birthday treat a boy could ask for.
And today we had Aiden's 2 year check up. He's 28lbs 6oz and is 35 1/2 inches tall. He's in the 50-75 percentile for height and weight. And his doctor said his development and vocabulary are off the chart for kids his age. She was amazed at how well he speaks!
And in other exciting news....our big two year old boy is now sleeping in a BIG BOY BED! He loves it. He's been in it for two nights so far and both times he's gone down without a peep. We lay him down, he goes right to sleep and we don't see him again until 8am when he comes running out of his room with the biggest smile on his face. It's super cute. Nap time was a little more challenging. But it took about ten minutes, a firm lecture and a promise of a juice box when he wakes up to get him down today. So it wasn't too bad. Knock on wood it keeps going so well!
So that's what's happening in Aiden's little two year old life. It's good & we're loving every minute of it!
