renter shmenter

We rented out or condo back in October to an odd guy (upon meeting him for the first time he mentioned something about smoking meat and wanting to bring us some...weird) but he seemed like he'd be an "ok" renter. Not the most ideal situation having an odd guy that might turn out to be ok renting our condo that we've put so much love and hard work in to. But the rental market was a bust at the time so we took what we could get. And what did we end up getting? A guy that was never, never ever, not even once on time paying his rent. Who we recently found out violated his lease by having an unapproved roommate "staying" aka...living with him AND two puppies. On the lease he signed in the pet section it said "NO PETS" then after that it wanted us to mark which pets would be acceptable and we put "NO PETS" followed by a long section about if you're interested in having pets you have to submit a request in writing blah blah blah...to which the response to the written request would have undoubtedly been "NO PETS". But he got pets anyway and his precious little puppies chewed my baseboards to pieces, scratched up the drywall and used my entire condo as their bathroom. When Andrew stopped by the other day to request rent (on the thirteenth of the month mind you) the condo floor was covered with dog pee AND poop....everywhere. Ugh. How do people live like this? It's beyond annoying and I just don't get it. But the good news is...we served him an eviction notice and he has 10 days to get himself out of the condo. The bad news is...we've got some work to do and have to go through the finding a renter process all over again. Blah. It'll be cute, clean and as good as new in a few short weeks so if you know of anyone that needs a condo in Phoenix send them my way.

Wish I could have a winter home here! I'd rent it for sure.

oh, that sucks! Especially after all the hard work you guys did in fixing that place up! Hopefully you get someone more normal next time...you never know, that's for sure.
