Our weekend in Cali

We're buying a new piece of equipment for the print shop & it's located in California. So when the suggestion was made that someone should go check it out in person before we buy, I instantly cleared our calendar and decided we should go. I will use any excuse for a trip to Cali, so we loaded up a few weeks ago on a thursday night.
I had the brilliant idea that we should drive at night after Aiden went to sleep because it'd make things so much easier and we wouldn't torture him by keeping him in the car seat forever during the day. If there's anything that I've learned in the 12 months of being a parent...it's that what seems to be a good idea always ends up being a gamble. You win some, you lose some...that's life. This night driving idea was a failure for sure. Aiden did ok, but was still awake for part of the trip & well, we were exhausted! We rolled into the hotel around 3:00am and Aiden caught his second wind! He was a mad man, crawling everywhere & exploring his new surroundings. He refused to go to sleep. Ahh...my "brilliant" idea blew up right in my face. Oh well.
Friday morning after a quick & much needed stop for coffee we headed to the San Diego Zoo! We loved it! It was so fun because our little A-man is old enough now to notice the animals and react to them. We took the bus tour as well. He was less than impressed, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! This is definitely the face of a boy that LOVED the zoo:

And this is the result of our 3:00am hang out followed by too much fun at the zoo:
After the zoo we headed to visit Andrew's Aunt, Uncle and their three boys. They were kind enough to feed us dinner & they even climbed into their attic to find fun toys for Roy boy to play with. They are such a sweet family and we really enjoyed seeing them. Random fact about them....they live one street away from Octo-mom! Remember her? They insisted we drive by her house on our way out. So we did. But it was like 10:00 at night and there was nothing happening. Pretty uneventful, but a fun fact nonetheless. Here is her house, in case you were wondering:
Saturday we went to look at the equipment we're buying. It was great. It passed inspection and will soon have a new home at our shop. Mission accomplished. Then we headed to the beach...yay! It was a cool day so the water was freezing. Aiden loved walking on the sand, but was not too thrilled about the cold water rushing over his feet.

Then we came home....we drove during the day this time & Aiden was amazing. He fussed every now and then but only for a few minutes at a time. Even though our trip was short, it sure was sweet & we had a great time!

I'm choosing to comment on this post because of that lumberjack tee Aiden chose to wear in California but I'd like to address all of the new posts...

I LOVE AIDEN!
So glad he's around.
